sloping rectangles

an intention of this task is that students build an understanding of how to work out a general case
note: different grid sizes for the top three (6 by 6) and the bottom three (7 by 7)
what lengths must be the same as 'a' and 'b'?
the result can be established geometrically and algebraically

or you could just use pythagoras
