stick rules

a student's work on the surface area/volume ratio for cuboids with a 1 by 1 square cross section and increasing lengths (L)

volumes and surface areas are of 1 by 1 by L 'sticks'

looking at the fraction of the surface area / volume (or length)

what happens to this fraction as L gets larger?
why is that ? [the small ends don't matter when the length is large]

what happens for other square sections for cuboids?
(e.g. 2 by 2 by L)
