house to square

a house (square + isosceles right angled triangle)
is to be cut with two straight cuts into three pieces
so that the pieces can be reassembled
to make a square

where/how should the cuts be made?

you could use the pythagoras rule and cosine rule to find out where P is located along the side of the square

but you don't need to

having decided where the point P goes
check that the angles and sides do create a square
