ancient diagrams

there are several diagrams utilised to establish methods for obtaining answers to quadratic problems that were used by Ancient civilisations (more on this later)

their efforts involved using areas to set up relationships, algebraic methods (as we now know them) derived from geometry

there seem to be advantages in linking algebra work to geometry rather than viewing it, as many do, as generalised arithmetic (more on this in other posts)
