'cover it' involves covering two adjacent squares
you could use dominoes
red Cuisenaire rods
sticks
or cut up bits of paper/card
green goes first - and wins
green goes first - and loses
'pick it' involves placing counters in a ring (around any regular polygon)
at each turn a player chooses to pick either one or two adjacent counters
if they choose two counters then they must have been joined by a line in the initial configuration (i.e. be neighbours)
